The City of Nashua is Changing the World, One Light at a Time
Nashua – The Nashua Green Team and the City of Nashua have joined the ENERGY STARŪ Change a Light, Change the World campaign. The Change a Light, Change the World campaign is a growing community of corporations, utilities, manufacturers, individuals, and countless others who have made a firm commitment to change the world, one light – one energy-saving step – at a time.
As part of this national movement, the City of Nashua and the Nashua Green Team have volunteered to encourage 500 individuals to pledge to replace at least one incandescent bulb or fixture at home with one that has earned the government’s ENERGY STAR label. The Nashua Green Team is kicking off its campaign on October 3, 2007 which is National ENERGY STAR Change a Light Day.
The Nashua Green Team will take an active role in encouraging individuals to make a simple commitment by taking the online ENERGY STAR Change a Light Pledge. With lighting accounting for 20% of the typical home’s electricity use, switching to energy-efficient options is a significant way to reduce energy costs, save energy and protect the environment for future generations. To be part of this effort, take the pledge online at http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=cal.showpledge&cpd_id=6178. or off the Nashua Green Team web site www.nashuagreenteam.org.
“Committing to change the world takes less time and energy than you might think,” said Wendy Reed of the Environmental Protection Agency. “In fact, it can start with simply changing a light.”
